Métropoles, musées & musique

Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim

Following its grand opening in 1981 the greatest private museum in Europe has meanwhile developed into one of the major tourist attractions in Germany. Situated on an area of over 80.000m², it offers more than 3000 exhibits. Among them are vintage cars, race- and sports cars, locomotives and airplanes. A highlight is the Supersonic Jet Concorde, which was transported in a spectacular move from Baden-Baden (Germany) to Sinsheim. The most beautiful airplane in the world can be seen at the open-air grounds of the museum. Since 2004 the Concorde has a walk-in facility, like the Russian "Concordski" - the Tupolev TU-144- offers since 2001 on the roof of the museum.

The museum offers its own IMAX 3D Giant-Screen-Theatre, which shows every hour different movies in the 3rd dimension in an absolute brilliant quality of sound and light. The screen measuring 22x27m is the largest screen on the world; the 22.000 Watt sound system lends an additional gigantic atmosphere to the films.

Because of the variety of the exposition with its different themes, the IMAX 3D Giant-Screen-Theatre and the different attractions on the open-air grounds the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim is a place for the whole family. A huge restaurant and a shop with a lot of interesting souvenirs complete the whole offer.
